Selecting Products

The process of creating a label starts by choosing, which products to label. You can do that from the Choose which products to label widget in the top left of the edit screen.

If you decide to label only products in a specific category, choose The following categories option. Then, start typing in the name of your category and click it after the results from your search are displayed. The category is now added to the list and all the products in it will be labeled.

  • Apply label to additional images - Keep this option checked if you want to apply the label to the additional product images.

  • Apply label to thumbnails - Keep this option checked if you want to apply the label to the thumbnail images of a product.

These two options will be preset as checked for the other tabs.

From here you can apply the label to different product types, disregarding their category. For example, you can label only your special (discounted) products or the products, which are added to the default Featured module of OpenCart. You can also choose to limit the bestselling or latest labeled products. If no option is chosen the label will be applied to all of the products.

Using the Apply label to additional images and the Apply label to thumbnails. After you have configured, which products you would like to label you can proceed to creating the label image.

Labeling Products

Using the Label image editor you can add text, uploaded or built-in images to your label.

  • Label text: The text shown on the label.
  • Font size: The size of the label text.
  • Text color: The color of the label text.
  • Your font collection: The font of the label text. (The collection is integrated with Google Fonts)
  • Uploaded Images: The images you have uploaded manually for your labels.

The max image size is 7.5 MB. The maximum upload size is predefined for your server and is different for each hosting provider. If the limit is too low, you can either contact your hosting provider to increase it, or you can try to do it yourself by following one of the methods below.

Method 1: Modify your php.ini file with the following entries:

memory_limit = 256M
upload_max_filesize = 200M
post_max_size = 201M

Method 2: In your /admin/ folder of OpenCart, create an .htaccess file with the following entries:

php_value memory_limit 256M
php_value upload_max_filesize 200M
php_value post_max_size 201M

You can find additional information in

  • Built-in Images: The preset images that LabelMaker comes with.

Now try adding some text to your label.

Enter the text in the Label text field choose Font Size and Text Color, then select the font for your text. By default LabelMaker comes pre-loaded with the Open Sans font family - However, you can always add other fonts to Your font collection by clicking the Get More button. Click the button and the download widget will be displayed. From there you can download every font from Google Fonts web service -

After you have filled in all the fields and chosen a font for your label text click the Add Text button and a label image will be generated and saved in the Uploaded Images section. This section displays all of the images located in the /vendors/labelmaker/uploaded_images directory on your web server. You can upload your own images using the Upload Image widget at the bottom of the Label image editor.

LabelMaker also comes with Built-in Images. This is a sample collection of images, which you can use to create your labels. After you have uploaded or generated the label image you can add it to the preview screen on the right and start editing!

Editing The Label

On the right of your screen you can see the label preview window. This is the preview of your final image result. Here you can do everything with your label layers. Start by adding an image as a layer from the Uploaded or Built-in Images. Hover over an image and click on Add to label. The image will be added to the editor and now you can drag, resize and rotate it as a layer. When you hover over a layer, blue stripes will appear and you can resize the layer by dragging them. You can also rotate the layer using the arrow on the bottom left. If you wish to remove it from the editor click the x on the top right.

Layer tips and tricks:

  1. Resize the layer before rotating it.

  2. Hold the shift key when resizing to maintain the layers aspect ratio and resize it both ways.

  3. Layer information is shown on top of the editor when you hover over a layer.

  4. To reorder layers double click them. This will move the layer above all other layers. To place it under all other layers, hold the alt key when you double click.

  5. White lines show the center of the layer image.

Play around and get familiar with the editor. You can try adding a ribbon from the Built-in Images and then add generated text from Uploaded Images over it.

Advanced Editor Settings

On top of the editor you will see the Apply label only to specific size setting. This setting will apply the label only to a specific size. The setting overrides the Apply label to additional images and the Apple label to thumbnails. You can choose a Custom Image Size or a size from your current OpenCart store image sizes. These sizes can be edited from Admin > System > Settings > Your Store Name > [edit].

The sizes are located under the Image tab. This advanced setting is useful, if you want to apply the label only to the category images of a product and leave the main and additional images unlabeled.

The Opacity setting controls the opacity levels of a label.

The Offset setting defines the starting position for each layer.

This is useful if you want to always position your layers on the Right Top corner of the image or in the Middle. Each layer has a vertical and horizontal offset. This offset is the distance from its starting point. When you hover over or drag a layer you will see its offset information changing. After you have positioned and edited all of label layers, click Save and you are done!
